Oats have so many incredible benefits and I will add a post link of resources below for you to learn of all the benefits. Not only is it great to know the benefits of any food, but it is also more important that you actually incorporate the benefits into your daily food intake.
Have you ever been told to eat oatmeal and given so many ways to eat it that you are now programmed to think that’s the only way you can eat oats? I love oats, and oatmeal but I don’t know that I can eat oatmeal every day without getting sick of it, no matter what I add to it. Oatmeal is not the only way to eat your oats.
You are going to learn all the ways in which to incorporate oats into your diet without having to make oatmeal each time.
This post is all about 5 healthy quick and easy ways to eat oats.
5 Healthy Quick and Easy Ways to Eat Oats
Oatmeal packets can be taken anywhere, and all you need to add is hot water. For a long time, I used my Keurig to add hot water and let my oats cook in a coffee cup. On my way to work, I would use a disposable coffee cup that had my oats “cooking”. I would add my banana slices to my oatmeal and eat them at work before I started. I use my electric kettle now that boils the water, has an automatic “off” switch, and cooks the oats much faster.
I buy the lower sugar-flavored packets (cinnamon & spice, maple & brown sugar, etc.). For even lower sugar, you can add one packet combined with an “original” packet that has no flavor.
2. Oats & Yogurt
Add some to your yogurt. Yogurt is a great option to balance gut bacteria and oats are great for constipation. Adding these together with a sprinkle of chia, or hemp seeds makes a complete snack or meal packed with nutrition.
They can be added to smoothies as well. I would probably have a small container or sealed baggie of ground oats that you can grind at home in a food processor. Then you can add a spoonful to your smoothie in the blender. Of course, if you have a high-speed powerful blender, this may not be an issue.
Oats can get stuck in the straw if you drink your smoothie with a straw. A jumbo straw works great or no straw, straight from the cup.
3. Yogurt Parfait Buffet
These can be an option at the yogurt parfait buffet table too! It’s an inexpensive healthy option that will impress your guests.
Bean burgers! Adding these to your homemade bean burgers help thicken them up nicely. We slowly add oats at the end to get the perfect consistency without sacrificing taste. It’s a great thickener. Plus they keep you fuller longer and beans are full of fiber and iron.
Having a burger night with bean burgers and added oats means you don’t have to nag anyone in your household to eat oatmeal, take more fiber, or say the dreaded words “we’re going to start eating healthy” hahaha. Although I could be wrong I really believe it’s a mind thing.
There are so many ways to feed your family and sneak good “stuff” (nutritious vitamins & minerals) into good tasting “stuff” (food). Mealtime doesn’t have to be a battle with a little preparation and creative recipe options.
